Ack, time has been flying by lately. There hasn't really been anything new in EJ since my last update unfortunately. Life has been busy, but going extremely well, and I hope to find some time to get some real work done in EJ this month, and finish up the final Firam rework.

That's pretty much it. Happy holidays!

October update.

Quick update here. The inner chipsets for Raanan, Toran, and Borland are all done. I'm very happy with them, and everything is back to normal up until the Firam chapter, where I have to tweak some of the plot to fit in Floo, with some of his new backstory.

No screenshots this month, because I want to keep some of my new material a secret. :q:

August update!

The item list has been done for a few weeks now, but I figured I'd post a teaser of what they're like.

A couple things to mention are the new item formats, like the one at the top. The stats icons are helpful because you can see exactly what each item does before equipping it. I also made icons for the 8 different types of magic, and spells and weapons may combine the different elements. The one in that item description is Shadow, and the one in front of the Chargeblade is Lightning. Yeah... I sort of pulled the idea from the DS version of chrono trigger, wanna fight about it? :argh:

I redid most of the other icons as well. The most noticeable ones are the Armor and Helm icons for those of you who remember what they looked like previously.

Since then, I've been looking critically at some of the RTP inner maps in the first area of the game, and I've been redrawing them, and adding a little refmap flavor to them here and there, as well as trying to create a consistent height format for tables, beds and things. The maps look fairly different from the past (First 20 minutes video), and from here I can stick to a consistent style for inner maps throughout Everlasting Journey.

The original problem was that they were using RTP in the first area, some SNES rips in the 2nd area or so, and in Firam, and then Firam Castle and crystali used refmap... it was kind of a mess, so I'm trying to fix that! Refmap has a ton of great inner tiles that I want to use at some point, so I'm trying to come up with a style that can meld in well with those to make editing easier.

Mid summer update

Hey readers! Sorry I've been off the radar so much! I still read Gaming World forum topics and try to stay up to date with community happenings. I just started a new job a few weeks ago that pays pretty well, and I'm slowly trying to get myself back in RPG Maker mode. :chin101:

A couple small things I've been working on over the past couple months:
Changed the look of the world map water again. Colors are similar to the old one, but it's based off a more detailed world map water tile. It looks quite nice.
I've designed the final 3 characters. Not sure how they're going to be worked into the story quite yet, but I know they will all be kept secret and be made available through side-quests. I have made the charsets, facesets and stats. Battlers and weapons are on my list of things to do next.
The item list is periodically being updated. I've got a new item description format that should make it easier for players to decide what to equip. I'm also adding in more items and weapons to pick up.

That's really it unfortunately. Lots of dull stuff. I'm getting there though. :woop:

Tedious crap

I've been spending some time today reorganizing and updating the current item list. Up until now I was just adding items randomly, not realizing how it was sorted in-game, so I've redone the entire item list, am in the process of adding new items, and I've gone into pretty much every instance an item is used in the game and made sure it's correct. It's not exactly exciting, but it'll be better for you, the player.

No media this time, sorry. :effort:

Videos!

I'm feeling generous today, so I've put together a couple videos of considerable interest.

The first 20 minutes of Everlasting Journey as of a couple hours ago, in two parts. I've also got a video of an area I just finished up (but there's a lot more not shown that takes place after).

EJ: The First 20 Minutes Pt.1

EJ: The First 20 Minutes Pt.2

Ghoul Battle

Party Select Menu (Updated Version)

Here's some extra videos of past RM2k3 stuff, non-EJ related:

Alex III Casino

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Engine demo

Some new stuff!

Just finished another tileset, as well as some more plot stuff with Floo, the new Mog. From this moment forward I will stop referencing Mog all together. Mog was never in Everlasting Journey. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Well there are still people occasionally reading this, so sorry for not updating in a while. I've been busy with RL stuff, like moving and looking for jobs. Things are going pretty well. I hope to get a few things done in EJ occasionally over the next couple of months.

One thing that's crucial is that I want to get battle damage and leveling to feel right. It's been okay in the past, but after replaying Chrono Trigger on the DS, the flaws are definitely transparent now.

I still have a couple things to fix up and tweak in the gnome area, then I have to do some work on Firam again to incorporate Mog's replacement, remake the Mines of Moglia, and hopefully things should be good for a demo release shortly after that.

Oh and I finally added those screenshots. Hyuck.

Check out the  random screenshot block on the side bar there. It's a neat script I found online.

All the videos are listed in their repsective block, including the :lsd: video that I posted on GamingWorld a few weeks ago.

You can see it here
